Gelato Messina (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

The kids finally got their wish to enjoy their first-ever fish broth ramen. We decided to double the fun by making a stopover at Gelato Messina on Pottinger Street for a sweet end to wrap up this full-filled day.

It's been almost two years since our last visit.

Messina has been our FAV gelateria in town thanks to their 40+ unique flavors including the HK exclusives which we had the pleasure of trying last time we were here.

Three scoops at $95 is actually not a bad deal at all.

They have obviously made some shuffling with their Hong Kong exclusive flavors which now comprise of flavors like Black sesame tongyuen (黑芝麻湯圓)Yuen Yeung (鴛鴦) and Yoyoyoku LT! (益力多???).

Three scoops: Black sesame tongyuen (黑芝麻湯圓), Tofu fa (豆腐花) and Yoyoyoku LT! (益力多???).

I thought having the Black sesame tongyuen (黑芝麻湯圓) gelato was really like enjoying chilled Chinese black sesame sweet soup. The flavors from the roasted black sesame were pretty deep, meshing well with the chewy glutinous rice (tong yuen) inside.

I had the Tofu fa  (豆腐花) last time too but they might have tinkered with the recipe a bit so it's more reminiscing of having real tofu pudding this time around. The patches of "sugar" in the gelato did taste like sweet ginger syrup. Very nice.

The only one I didn't like was the Yoyoyoku LT! Other than some mild acidity, there wasn't much to say about this flavor.
