PappaRich Macquarie (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) ★☆☆☆☆

There were a lot of first on this trip and we jotted another one down this afternoon with a first-ever trip on the Metro line. Yeah, it was a bit far but I was happy to scratch this itch off. After circling around Macquarie Park and Macquarie University, we finally made it to Macquarie Centre and what perfect timing as dinner time was fast approaching.

We came up with the initial plan of grabbing a quick one at this small Cantonese restaurant but following a rude welcoming by the staff, we left feeling a little pissed and that's when we seemingly entered another section in the mall with more dining options including PappaRich Malaysian Delights, Nene Korean Chicken, Nando etc.

I don't really mind having Malaysian food again. Didn't realize PappaRich used to have a branch in Hong Kong before they closed it down.

Teh tarik – This wasn't not bad. I thought the tea was a little more fragrant here than the one we had at Nanyang the other day.

Special Nasi Goreng – Mixed vegetable fried rice served with fried chicken, fried egg, papadum, sambal and cucumber slices.

I thought this would taste like Indonesian fried rice (印尼炒飯) from Hong Kong but well, not exactly. The fried rice was just lukewarm which is always a bad sign and that papadum, nevermind.

Pappa Char Koay Teow – Wok-fried flat noodles with prawns, fish cakes, egg, bean sprouts and chives that was supposed to be mildly spicy and it was. Probably the only dish with a passing grade tonight.

Toasted Hainanese sandwich with butter and kaya – Just look at the presentation of these "sandwiches". Anyone feeling hungry?

I hate these toasts with all these rough edges. Not making them any more palatable. Can't they use a sharper knife?

We had to rush through dinner cuz it's been a long day. All parties concerned just wanted to head home (actually hotel) and rest.

I am happy to know the fact that PappaRich no longer has its presence in Hong Kong (I think). There are more than a few better options in the city when it comes to Malaysian delight.
