We have around 45 minutes to an hour of free time before Jelloman's next appointment so like we always do in Hong Kong, we walk around looking for a cha chaan teng to enjoy a tea break. The problem? We're in Sydney not Hong Kong! 😨 Good thing we were in Chatswood, probably as good as any suburb in the city to find authentic Hong Kong food.
Out of luck (or is it?), we stumbled upon Hong Kong Cafe (港夠味) at the basement of a small shopping centre on Victoria Avenue.
Iced milk tea and red bean with coconut milk – I probably needed this more than anything else. Something thirst quenching since I've done a lot of talking this morning.
French toast – My first choice would have been pineapple bun (with that thick slab of butter 😋) but I was told that they were sold out for the day due to "unexpected good business". That was odd.
The food here wasn't awful even comparing to cha chaan tengs in Hong Kong but both Jelloman and I agreed that we probably needed a change of scenery if we ever decide to have authentic Hong Kong food again on this trip.
