The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is the latest 5-star hotel to launch a bakery and pastry pop-up after Four Seasons and others have already done so in 2020. The pop-up will feature pastries and bread baked in-house by the team. I decided to check the pop-up out over the weekend following a stop at Monsoon.
This pop-up is situated on Level 9 right behind the hotel entrance.

I have already visited their online shop to view what's available on the menu but turned out, only a small subset of the menu was available each day. Take their "cro-dough" (or cronut) as an example, only two out of their four flavors were available during our visit.
Plain Cro-Dough ($38) - I'm a bit of a cronut purist. While I appreciate a colorful cronut with an amazing glaze and filling, most times I would rather have a plain one topped with powdered sugar.
This was really light and flaky. It tasted even better knowing that I haven't had one of these for such a long time.
Vanilla Custard Cro-Dough ($38) - Little nugget wanted the caramel cro-dough but since it's not available today, he gladly settled for the vanilla custard cro-dough instead. I thought the vanilla custard filling was really nice, and the white chocolate glaze and freeze-dried raspberry were just the perfect cherry on top.
Green tea and Raspberry cake ($58) - Of course, I didn't forget to pick up a slice of cake too.
Disappointingly, the combination of green tea mousse and raspberry gelée didn't work for me as both flavors were a little too overpowering. They were working more individually rather than harmonizing each other. And what made this even worse, was the compote (rhubarb?) on the bottom of the cake. The additional texture ended up bringing more harm than good to the pastry.
