Restaurant Mill'Feuille (Lucerne, SWITZERLAND) ★★★☆☆

We had a much lighter agenda on the second day in Lucerne. After enjoying a pretty nice breakfast at the hotel restaurant, I went to the parade to pick up our car and drove us down to seaside Hergiswil for lunch at Michelin starred Seerestaurant Belvédère. We even had time to check out Glasi Hergiswil, a glass factory turned museum after lunch, which was terrific. It was a fun experience for little one who really enjoyed the mirror maze and interactive exhibits inside the museum (which is free by the way).

Since the drive back to Lucerne is a short one (15 minutes), we took some time to explore Stansstad (bought some local produce) before arriving back in Lucerne just before dinner time.

It was one of the hottest days of summer here in Switzerland. None of us really had much appetite for dinner but we had advance booking at Restaurant Mill'Feuille, a popular bistro just a stone's throw from the Chapel Bridge in the heart of Old Town.

We were seated by the window with a very relaxed view of River Reiss.

Overlooking the other side of Old Town...

Little guy hasn't been himself since returning to Lucerne. Perhaps it was too hot, he kept asking for his soda and water.

And there was a lot of whining throughout the meal so I knew we better finished this fast.

It was towards the tail end of our road trip so not surprisingly, I was pretty beat up myself.

House Salad – This came with less green leaves than I have expected; and far more other stuff like avocado, quinoa and cucumber. Not my favorite but I'll take it as I badly needed some veggies.

Egg Mill'feuille – The restaurant's namesake dish with soft slow-boiled egg, spinach and crispy toast on the bottom, and finished off with a classic Hollandaise sauce on top. I thought a little heavy on a summer day like this (when all of us were dehydrated).

Scallops – Lightly seared and matched with clean flavors of peas purée and melon.

Mill'feuille – The sweet version of this with layers of super buttery and flaky pastry. Sandwiched in between was custard cream. This was OK except well, the pastry wasn't crispy and flaky enough for us.

Everybody was a little down tonight knowing that it's our second last night of this trip. After 2 weeks on the road, our bodies were telling us that it's about time to go home but yet at the same time, no one wants it to end...
