It's been a long day for all of us. We had some morning activities at Laax riding our bikes, then a highly anticipated meal at Michelin 3-starred Schloss Schauenstein and after driving past Chur and a number of small towns, we finally arrived at Intercontinental Davos where we will be staying for the next 2 nights. After freshening up a bit in our respective rooms, it's almost dinner time. I was a bit lazy to do any online research so I went up to the hotel concierge to get a few tips on where to eat tonight. One of their recommendations was Der Pate Pizzeria, a small Italian ristorante and pizzeria at the Davos Train Station (3 minute drive from the hotel) which is a very popular place for the locals I was told.
It was our first night in Switzerland after crossing the Italian border so everyone was curious of why we were still having Italian food (in favor of Swiss food). But obviously, the driver (me) was too tired to drive around town for something more sophisticated. Well, they call them the "godfather" of Davos so this place must be quite decent, right?
Spaghetti Bolognese - Portion was really BIG. My little one seemed to love it perhaps because the sauce was a little sweeter than the ones in Hong Kong.
Caesar salad - Not the tastiest Caesar we've had but we needed some veggies badly.
Pizza Montagna - This came with tomato, mozzarella, salami and gorgonzola, straight out of the wood fire oven. A hearty dish that sent everybody home happy.
I was quite impressed with the way service went tonight. The service team was very attentive and they even went the extra mile to take care of my little one, playing with him and bringing him pencil crayons, gifts (like candy) and stuff. I guess there's a little something about these little towns that you could never find in the big cities.
