Gelateria Savoia (Verona, ITALY) ★★★★☆

Gelateria Savoia is an incredible story. Founded in 1939, it has been one of the best and certainly most popular gelato shop in Verona over the years.

They're also one of the first to introduce this type of semifreddo (I call them ice-cream sandwich) in 1939 and you can see the roadmap in the evolution of the product up until now.

Just by looking at the lineup, you know they're very good with what they do.....

Semifreddo (2.20 euro) - of course, I had to take the journey back in time and have a crack of their classic semifreddo, which was first introduced in 1939.

The ice-cream (almond flavored?) was silky smooth and it worked well with the amaretto biscuit and Ligurian almonds. Pretty nice.

La Cassata (2.7 euro) - A newer version  (and improved one?) of semifreddo with honey and candied fruit (orange and bergamot) in the middle. Honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference between this and the classic one other than the candied fruit.

Livorice and pistachio gelato (2.3 euro) - I wasn't leaving this place without trying some of their gelato, which is as popular as their semifreddo. If you like rich and creamy gelato like me, then you'll sure enjoy this as much as I do!!!
