We had to wait a bit for an empty table so it gave me ample time to check out Savini's cake selections.
Also got enough time to snap a few random shots inside the historic shopping complex.
Hey, one of the greatest chefs this city has ever seen, Carlo Cracco, is opening here soon. Great news!
Slow-cooked octopus with caramelized watermelon, lemon zest, smoked lemon cream and olives (€33) - A pretty refreshing start. The Mediterranean twist with watermelon and olive was a nice touch.
Scallops with burrata "stracciatella", red pepper puree and puffed black rice (€32.5) - Right off the bat, mom wanted some scallops and that's what she's getting. I thought burrata and scallops were an interesting combination that was doomed to fail but they proved me wrong. Not bad.
Honey glazed duck breast with cherry compote, shallots and turmeric flavored potatoes (€33) - Another solid pick by mom who finished batting 2 for 2 tonight. I thought the duck breast tasted a bit like liver but as a big fan of duck foie gras, I wasn't complaining at all.
Seafood tagliatelle (€28) - The most traditional Italian dish from the bunch turned out a little disappointing for us. (Photo Credit: Someone with shaky hands)
Tiramisu (€11) - Came in a very small package but we all agreed it was the best dish of the night. Light, airy, moist and great balance of flavors. Everything was just spot on. If my stomach wasn't working in a different time zone, I would most definitely take down two of this on my own.
Every night, Piazza del Duomo turns into an electrifying social gathering place. It doesn't really matter how many times I came here. It still gets my adrenaline going like the very first time.....
