Mei Zhi Lian MixC World 美芝蓮 萬象天地店 (Shenzhen, CHINA) ★★☆☆☆

I think we have all under-estimated the resilience of our kids this morning. Even without much of a breakfast, they were able to continue playing their fav arcade games until almost noon time. At around 11:30am, we finally blew the whistle signaling the end of their morning gaming session. It was time for a quick breakfast before we move onto the next destination.



I decided to take this opportunity to grab ourselves a quick breakfast. There was a Mei Zhi Lian (美芝蓮) near the skate rink at MixC World (萬象天地店) so the three of us ended up sitting down for a few Cantonese snacks.

Mei Zhi Lian is best known for its eggettes and milk tea but I didn't know that they have other Cantonese snacks such as curry fish balls, Hong Kong style spaghetti with tomato sauce and more. 

Iced milk tea (招牌凍奶茶) (¥13) – The color of the milk tea suggested that there was a nice balance between milk and tea but the tea itself was lacking the fragrance that was crucial for a nice cup (or glass) of pantyhose milk tea.

Noodles with curry fish balls (魚蛋車仔麪) (¥17) – Perhaps we were all a bit hungry at this point so we had a little fight over the fish balls. As expected, the noodles were largely forgettable.  

Pineapple bun with thick-cut butter (至尊菠蘿油) (¥11) – A bit of a letdown when the server passed me a small pack of butter and a plastic glove, and asked me to put the thick slab of butter between the bun myself. The fact that it took more than 15 minutes to arrive, we simply expected more (taste, service etc.). Not good.

I guess we've picked the wrong place as our breakfast spot but a mere 15 minutes was all we've got. Next up, it's time for another playhouse and this one is located right next to the Window of the World (世界之窗), which I haven't visited since I first graduated from university. That felt like a century ago.
