Golden Tao Tao Ju MixC World 金牌陶陶居 萬象天地店 (Shenzhen, CHINA) ★★★★☆

There’s really no secret where we are bringing the oldies to brunch this morning. With our proximity to MixC World (萬象天地), it’s making the trip to our favorite dim sum place, Golden Tao Tao Ju (金牌陶陶居) so much more convenient.

Since we have failed to make an advance booking yesterday, whether we could find ourselves a table is still very much up in the air. At 11:00am, I thought we stand a chance but no luck 😤😤

Despite the main dining room was already at full capacity, there was a private room available at 10% service charge. Money talks!

Deep-fried dumpling with beef tenderloin and pandan (牛柳粒斑蘭青蘋果) (¥36) – Our brunch kicked off with something new this morning, apple-shaped deep-fried dumplings with diced beef tenderloin stuffed in the middle. The glutinous rice dough had been flavored with pandan adding a bit of savory-sweet twist to it.



Tao Tao Ju jumbo prawn dumpling (陶陶居大蝦餃) (¥39) – I ordered two sets of this to make sure that everyone had a piece.

TTJ's jumbo-sized prawn dumpling had me totally forgetting about the smaller har gows in Hong Kong. They had half a prawn there, along with minced prawn and bamboo shoot hidden underneath the delicate wrapper. Very nice as usual.

Stir-fried rice rolls with beef briskets (牛腩啫珍珠腸) (¥36) – The slightly charred rice rolls worked well the beef brisket and flavorful sauce once again.



Pan-fried turnip cake (香煎蘿蔔糕) (¥29) – Little nugget's recent favorite and like I said before, a bit more Chinese sausage in there would make me a real happy camper.

Liwan-style Sampan congee (回味荔灣艇仔粥) (¥33) – The oldies would love to have some congee for breakfast. 

Jumbo-sized Guangzhou-style youtiao (安心廣式大油條) (¥16) – Some youtiao to go with the congee. Another one of my fav here.

Steamed bun with runny egg custard (流心奶黃豬豬包) (¥29) – This was just OK. The bun was spongy enough but that's about all there was to it.

We still got half a day of activities left, mostly on the Lo Wu side. It was time to settle the bill and hustle to the other side of Shenzhen now.
