We are enjoying a fairly lazy afternoon on Buddha's Birthday. After dropping little nugget off for his class, we went for a short walk to Lai Chi Kok Park. On our way back, we stopped by Door Door Bakery (多多餅店) for some of Jelloman's favorite nougat candies. This was when memories started coming back to me, as I remembered reading about Door Door Bakery's famous egg tarts just a couple of weeks ago.
Touted as one of the best places to find a delicious egg tart in Hong Kong by Lifestyle Asia, it's certainly worth a deep dive so I went in for a quick look.

They have both the traditional and Portuguese styles egg tarts available and from what I've been told by the lady at the cashier, this batch had just freshly come out of the oven!
Traditional egg tart – This wasn't bad at all. The crust was pretty crispy although I personally would love it to be a bit more flaky and buttery at the same time. The egg custard was eggy enough for me.
Portuguese style egg tart – The buttery crust made with puff pastry was nice and I thought the custard was a bit more eggy with some smokiness from the caramelized spots on top to match.
Pretty happy with our snacks this afternoon. We even got ourselves some traditional nougats and banana puddings which I don't think many local bakeries are still making these days.
