La Patisserie des Idees (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

We decided to give our neighborhood pastry shop another chance after a disappointing outing last week. 

A few days ago, little nugget quietly sneaked into my room and whispered to me that he wanted to get Jelloman a surprise Mother's Day cake. When it comes to food especially dessert, I was too happy to help out. I showed little one a bunch of cake photos online but he was not satisfied with any of them except one from La Patisserie des Idees. So, I went to make the order official the next morning.

Mother's Day Cake – The color looked a little different than the one showed on their website.

This was basically a strawberry mousse cake with alternating layers of delicate strawberry mousse and sponge cake hugging a centre of strawberry compote in the middle. What I like most about it was the layer of almond crumble in the base providing the soft and pillowy cake with some extra texture and bite.

Not bad.
