La Patisserie des Idees (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

I have been thinking about going back to La Patisserie des Idees for months and right after work tonight, I decided to swing by just before they close at 8pm.

Melon Duo – I had this one last time around and was blown away by the sweetness of the Japanese melon mousse.

This was again very very good, The delicate melon mousse worked real well with the melon rouge crémeux, sponge cake and mango gelée in the very middle. I definitely won't mind having it a third time.

Pistache Framboise – The little pastry shop's signature dessert. I had something very similar in Paris from a place called Pâtisserie Sébastien Gaudard.

Underneath the silky smooth Sicilian pistachio mousse were two separate layers of raspberry cream and sponge cake. The flavors were pretty balanced although I won't mind a little more acidity from the raspberry. On top of that, there was the nice contrasting texture thanks to the caramelized nuts. Really not bad.

While the business of most local restaurants are slowly crawling back to their pre-pandemic levels, there are small cafes and dessert shops like La Patisserie des Idees that still look to get back on track. I hope that happens sooner rather than later cuz I love these neighborhood cafes.
