Sushi Kokei Abeno Harukas Kintetsu 古徑壽司 近鉄阿倍野店 (Osaka, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

After spending our remaining hours in Kyoto at the stunning Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (京都嵐山竹林), we took the Keihan line back to Osaka. A quick stop at our hotel (Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel which was simply amazing!) to drop off the luggage and we were out again, this time to get ourselves fed.

Since it was already 10pm, we decided not to venture out of Abeno Harukas for dinner. Instead, we just randomly picked a sushi place which opens late and that led us to Sushi Kokei (古徑壽司).

Most restaurants around here close at or before 10pm so we were overjoyed to find out that Sushi Kokei operates until 11pm.

It's great that they offer a very comprehensive English menu too.

We ordered a bunch of sushi to share and honestly, I lost track of how many I've ordered already.

The crab leg sushi wasn't bad.

Less successful was the Akagai (赤貝), or red clam sushi.

The sea urchin sushi with the usual seaweed wrap was probably the most satisfying one of the bunch. I certainly won't mind having a second one but it's already getting very late.

Of course, I remembered taking a photo of this as a reminder to where we went for dinner.

Finally, a simple chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard) to wrap things up.

After all the running around, my legs and back were both sore like never before. Time to sleep in tomorrow? Zero chance coz it's lunar new year day so we have to call home (both mine and Jelloman's) to send our greetings across.
