Pâtisserie Pain de Sucre (Paris, FRANCE) ★★★★☆

Pierre Gagnaire alums Didier Mathray and Nathalie Robert worked together for six years alongside the French master chef before launching Pâtisserie Pain de Sucre in 2004. At this popular pastry shop in the 3rd arrondissement, the pastry duo aims to show off their unique creative flair with some of the city's most delectable desserts. Dessert lovers in Paris should be no stranger to their colorful spongy marshmallow but there are plenty more to love including their signature foie gras cake and stuffed bread rolls that look like pains au chocolat, only savory.

Pâtisserie Pain de Sucre is more than just a feast for the eyes! And I couldn't wait to start my feast.

There's a very small dine-in area for those of us who prefer to enjoy our dessert on the spot.

Finally, some "Me" time after a very long day.

Mont Blanc (€6.50) - Chestnut purée and white chocolate mousse on a crunchy short crust pastry, topped with chestnut vermicelli, caramelized chestnut and toasted walnut. I've recently developed an affection for Mont Blanc in a tart-form so this was right up my alley.

It was really really nice. Instead of trying to cut through the sweetness with something acidic (which would be the common way...), they complemented the sweetness (of chestnut and white chocolate) with the floral notes of jasmine tea which has been infused into the chestnut purée. A brilliant idea that worked to perfection. I was very impressed.
