La Rôtisserie d'Argent (Paris, FRANCE) ★★★★☆

I knew it wasn't going to be easy finding a place to eat on a Sunday afternoon so I did my homework the night before. Everyone has been waiting for a traditional French-style roasted chicken meal at some point on this trip so I guess it's time for me to deliver.

Located just off Pont de la Tournelle, La Rôtisserie d'Argent is one of the top rotisseries in Paris who's best known for its spit-roasted chicken. It also happens to open on Sundays.

The bustling La Rôtisserie is a lively and warm bistro owned by the Terrail family who's also behind Michelin starred Parisian institution Tour d’Argent across the street.

They have a very simple food menu centering around some of classic French bistro dishes like duck foie gras terrine, Burgundy snails and of course steak and frites. No beef tartare though.

La Rôtisserie d'Argent Paris - Food Menu

We decided to get some sharing plates so everyone could enjoy a little bit of everything.

Duck foie gras with port wine (€19.00) - First off, duck foie gras terrine marinated with port wine.

Of course, the duck foie gras was best enjoyed with a thin slice of crispy toast. I thought the apricot jam with a hint of passion fruit was the perfect icing on the cake. So gooood.

Burgundy snails with garlic butter (€11.00 for six) - Not bad.

Green salad and vegetables julienne (€9.00) - While others enjoyed their duck foie gras and snails, I had my own green salad which was actually fairly tasty. For some reason, the vegetables in France always seemed to taste a little sweeter.

Spit-roasted black-legged half chicken from Challans (€22.00) - Poultry from Challans is arguably the best breed coming out of France (perhaps with the exception of Bresse). This was very tender and juicy. Nice job by our server for giving me the leg!~

Spit-roasted half crossed duck from Challans (€29.00) - But as good as the Challans black-legged chicken, there was no comparison to the Challans duck. I thought the duck breast was particularly delicious. Nice firm texture with a lot of flavors.

Really succulent, even better than the leg part.

French fries (€5.00) - Now, this is what I called French fries (Not those from a certain fast food chain!). Homemade shoestring fries without the usual excessive amount of salt. Very nice.

Dessert lovers will be thrilled to know that Le Boulanger de la Tour is under the same ownership so we can order desserts from the next door neighbor and deliver straight to our table. Hassle free.

Here we find all the classic French desserts like chocolate eclair, Paris-Brest, lemon tart, Mont Blanc and Rum Baba. But since we just had desserts at Carl Marletti not too long ago, everyone including myself decided to take a pass.
