We have a few hours to spare before taking off for Kansai International Airport. Since all of us have different plans in mind, we decided to split into two squads this morning. For me and mom, we took a slow walk around Shinsaibashi’s top department stores before heading west to satisfy our sweet tooth.
Patisserie accueil is a French patisserie I visited a number of years ago, and it has left a lasting impression on me with its exquisite pastry.
Mom and I spent some time deciding what we wanted for our sweet breakfast.
After COVID, the patisserie no longer allows customers to enjoy their desserts in their small dine-in area. So, mom and I had no choice but to take our sweets outside and indulge under the freezing temperature.
To no one's surprise, mom's got her favorite Mont Blanc cake.
Richesse (¥650) — Instead of their signature cakes, I took a flyer on a new item.
This was a nice mix of vanilla and white chocolate mousse, coated beautifully with strawberry chocolate. There was also tonka bean-flavored dark chocolate cream, banana jelly, and streusel, for a well-rounded finish. My taste buds were a little frozen, but I could still tell it was pretty good.
From what I saw in the display counter, the cakes here seemed to have taken a dip in terms of presentation. The two cakes we sampled also suggested that there might have been a change of guard in the kitchen. At least, that was my suspicion.
