We are meeting up with a good friend of Jelloman from her high school for lunch this afternoon at Howard Smith Wharves. She picked us up from our hotel and after a quick 10-minute drive, we arrived at the wharf-turned-lifestyle precinct.
The site originally built as a wharf in the 1930s, was largely abandoned since the 1960s but finally came to life again around 2018.
The calling card here is of course the riverfront view and city visas under the Story Bridge.
Our lunch venue, Felons Brewing Company, offers a spacious patio with riverfront views and that's where we're parking ourselves this afternoon.
It was a little early for a beer so I opted for a home-brewed apple cider instead.
Nourish bowl – Something healthy to start the meal with is never a bad idea. This came with
tuna, quinoa, edamame, avocado, cucumber, pepitas and a ponzu dressing.
Sashimi plate – Freshly sliced tuna, kingfish and salmon with the usual pickled ginger and soy. We've had quite a bit of kingfish on this trip.
Fried calamari – Lightly coated, and served with rocket, aioli and a wedge of lemon. These were pretty tasty.
Sea Perch – Fish and chips made with locally caught sea perch, served with a side of chips and garden salad.
