Cool, trendy, fun and colorful, welcome to Jérémie Runel's world of ice cream! Since La Fabrique Givrée opened doors a few years ago, co-owner Runel continues to transform boring, traditional French ice-cream into something that's fun and trendy.
Runel's previous background at Valrhona, Hotel Bristol and Fauchon has made him more than just an artisan glacier (ice cream producer). In fact, he's always one step ahead of everyone in market. Just look at his reinterpretation of the famous Mont Blanc cake with marron glacé from Ardèche, marron espuma, Bora Bora vanilla ice cream, marron vermicelli, meringue and blackcurrant confit. That's ingenious.
Perhaps these facts made it less surprising that La Fabrique Givrée has taken Lyon, Aubenas and Uzès by storm. Bordeaux too. And Paris, watch out!
Here's a list of the chef's signature creations.
Personally, I'd like to check out the Givrés Burgers.
After a little more than a 10-minute wait, both my burger and milkshake were ready to serve.
Mythical Milkshake (5.5 Euro) - The Michou flavor came with chocolate and caramel ice-cream. Not bad.
Givrés Burger (5.5 Euro) - I got to choose my own ice-cream which I promptly took the hazelnut flavor made with hazelnut from Piedmont Italy. This came in a hot brioche buns with caramelized pecans and their caramel sauce. Decadent stuff!
La Fabrique Givrée can be found in the heart of Lyon's charming Old Town on Rue Saint-Jean.
