Café de Turin (Nice, FRANCE) ★★★☆☆

Housed under a historic building near Garibaldi Square, Café de Turin is one of the oldest seafood and oyster bar in Nice. It's been around since the 1950's and still going strong.

It's considered one of the most authentic and iconic cafés in the city.

The indoor seating was of course not the most popular place in the summer with everyone (including us) leaning towards al fresco dining on the terrace.

Look at all these fresh oysters. I'm definitely not going to hold myself back!

But then maybe I should. It's still breakfast time for us so getting half a dozen of these fine de claire oysters sounded a little heavy.

Maybe just four pieces with a big clam!?

These fine de claire N°1 oysters (€3 each) were pretty big and obviously very creamy with strong sea water flavor. As expected, they had a slightly less fleshy texture.

Slightly smaller and rounder were the fine de claire N°2 oysters (€2 each). They had pretty much the same complex flavors, just a little smaller in size.

I would very much love to stick around for more, including their popular scampi salad with roasted asparagus but unfortunately I'm on a very tight schedule this morning.
