Residence Alma Marceau (Paris, FRANCE)

After half a dozen trips to Paris, I finally realize one thing - I'm sick of those boutique hotels with closet size rooms. It's time to stay in an apartment hotel! I think that's pretty good idea considering that we have a VIP with us on this trip. Little nugget~!

I can't remember when was the last time we flew on Christmas day but we hopped on our plane in Dubai in the early afternoon of Christmas day and by the time we arrived in Paris, it was already late. Very late. When we finally re-gained consciousness, it was already the early morning of Boxing Day. I tried to sleep in but little guy would have no part of that. He wanted to explore Paris ASAP.

Like every other trip, I picked the accommodations for us. I came across Residence Alma Marceau during my research and thought it would be the perfect choice for our stay in Paris. For one, it's highly recommended in most travel websites and we know this part of Paris fairly well having stayed in a number of hotels in the area.

Just off Champs-Elysées and Arc de Triomphe, Residence Alma Marceau is 4-star apartment hotel with 10 spacious apartment suites (We already made a pretty big mess hours into our stay!).

The apartment we picked comes with just a single bedroom.

The lone bedroom is a pretty spacious one with a lot of storage space.

There's a bathroom right next door although an ensuite would have been a really nice addition to the apartment suite.

Near the entrance area, we have a separate toilet though without bathing facilities.

One of the things we love about this apartment is the really BIG living room, fully equipped with a sofa bed. That's where I camped during our 6-day stay.

And behind those curtains...

There's a huge covered balcony overlooking the main road, which I never had time to explore.

But little one obviously did!

Another nice facility to have is the kitchen, fully equipped with stove, toaster, dishwasher, oven and microwave.

We found all the plates and cutleries we need in the cupboards.

Little one was pretty happy with his stay (but I wasn't! More on that later).

Of course, the main reason we picked Residence Alma Marceau - location, location, location.

They said 5 minutes to Champs-Elysées and Arc de Triomph on their website but more likely than not, it would take 8 to 10 minutes, which isn't bad at all.

Of course, we took full advantage of the great location right from our first morning.

It's this guy's first visit to Paris and he's loving it!

His favorite attraction - toy store on Champs-Elysées.

We paid the price of two hotel rooms (roughly) for a one-bedroom apartment at Residence Alma Marceau thinking we could get more out of it. However, the truth is, while having the spacious living room and kitchen looked like a steal, it really didn't make up for the absence of a second bed (except the sofa bed) and bathroom. I also didn't like the fact that the apartment looked so dated and worn out. Yes, the location made the heavy price tag slightly more acceptable but the reality is, there are far better (and cheaper) options in the area (for example, Hotel Le A).
