I'm back in Shenzhen this afternoon following a quick lunch at the recently opened Jimmy's Kitchen. There isn't much in my itinerary today other than a stop at the arcade centre and perhaps some café hopping. As planned, I spent more than an hour at Injoy (卓悅匯) collecting my game cards and just before it got dark outside, I began walking slowly towards Xiameilin (下梅林).
My first planned stop was at Baker's Base, a café cum French boulangerie hidden in the middle of a residential area.

I didn't have time to sit down for a sip of coffee but I did what I had to do, sample some of their baked goods.
I really admire the passion of the folks behind Baker's Base. Opening a French bakery in a quiet neighborhood like this one isn't an easy decision to make. Today, they've got a small selection of baked goods that included some homemade croissant and baguette but nothing too fancy.
I ended up getting myself a pain au chocolat (¥20). This was probably less flaky and buttery than what I used to see from a pain au chocolat and for ¥20, I expected a little more.
Finding a good home-grown French boulangerie in Shenzhen is sometimes harder than winning the lottery but at least, I saw the passion and heart from this little bakery shop.
