Less than 24 hours since I returned from Shenzhen, I am back at West Kowloon rapid train station for another trip north. This one was of course initiated by none other than Jelloman herself and I was all that happy to tag along.
We have a few tasks to complete in MixC World (萬象天地) this afternoon and that’s where we’re heading first. After a long walk to Shopping Park Station (購物公園站) via the underground passage, we got onto the train on the green subway line (Line 1) and eight stations later, we finally arrived at Hi-Tech Park station (高新園站) which is directly connected to MixC World via Exit A.
Our next order of business was an early lunch at Golden Tao Tao Ju (金牌陶陶居). Apparently, Jelloman loved this place so much that she wanted an encore.
We decided to sit outside to avoid a long queue in front of us who were waiting for tables inside.
Signature Hong Kong style milk tea (招牌港式奶茶) (¥23) – Of course, an ice cold Hong Kong style milk tea to cool things off first. The tea was very strong like it was last time around which was exactly what I needed to get through the day.
Iceball lemon tea (冰球凍檸茶) (¥26) – Jelloman wanted to try this on our last visit and finally she got her wish.
Tao Tao Ju jumbo prawn dumpling (陶陶居大蝦餃) (¥39) – The filling of an entire prawn hugged by a layer of delicate prawn mousse made this a must at TTJ.
Steamed minced cod dumpling with bamboo shoot (筍尖鳳眼餃) (¥36) – This came with two types of fish roes on top, adding some saltiness to the minced cod fish. Not bad.
Stir-fried rice rolls with beef briskets (牛腩啫珍珠腸) (¥36) – My favorite dish from our last outing finally arrived. The tangy and flavorful sauce was again spot on meshing well with the beef briskets and rice rolls which were a little smoky.
Crispy puff with meat floss (肉鬆咸蛋散) (¥29) – Obviously, one of the most popular dish here as all our neighbors had one of these on their table.
This was pretty decent but I thought the puff was a little too flaky, and thus making it easy to break when we transported it over to our plate with our chopsticks. And the egg yolk and meat floss could have done more to enrich the flavors of the crispy puffs.
We have a long schedule ahead of us including a visit to Sam's Club (山姆超市), one of the hottest destination for Hongkongers these days. So, time to quickly settle the bill and get out of here.
