Beans The Rambler at Maritime Square (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

It's just 3 weeks since we last visited Beans The Rambler at Maritime Square but obviously the gang missed it so much that they were already talking about an encore. Not that I'm against an encore but it was a little early for Beans' signature pasta dishes so instead we opted for their other fan favorites - coffee, waffles and desserts.

Raspberry mille feuille ($42) - I thought this would be made to order but judging by how quickly it arrived, I would bet it's been readily made before we placed our order. I have to admit, it was a little disappointing.

The presentation wasn't bad (especially for $42 only) but the pastry could definitely be more flaky.

Vanilla Soufflé ($52) - This came straight out of the oven and you could really smell the nice fragrance (vanilla?) even before it landed in front of us. It was very soft and airy, exactly what you expect from a soufflé. Not surprisingly, little nugget loves it so much that he ends up getting the whole thing.

GAT ($58) - Sweetie mochi, custard yuzu sauce, chocolate crumble and yogurt ice-cream. Not quite sure what the name GAT stands for though.

Obviously, the mochi took a while to be ready so by the time it got served, we had already already finished enjoying the first two desserts.

I thought the mochi tasted a lot like the glutinous sweet dumplings from yum cha. They weren't bad but there wasn't a lot of surprises there.

Rainbow tea latte - Yeah, it's about time I get my caffeine fix.
