Sekaiichi Ramen 世界一暇なラーメン屋 (Osaka, JAPAN) ★★★★☆

Following a pretty nerve-wracking day trip to Kyoto, everyone just wanted something simple for dinner upon our arrival back in Osaka. There were a few good options at Nakanoshima Daibiru, an upscale commercial building right next to our hotel and that's where we decided to head for dinner.

In meeting our objective of a quick dinner, we ended up having Japanese ramen at Sekaiichi Ramen (世界一暇なラーメン屋). They have their own English name which goes something like "The Most Desarted Rámen-Bar In The World" (according to their posters and menu although I had no clue what that really means).

Like most ramen shops, Sekaiichi Ramen only offers a handful of options, with slightly different kinds of shoyu (soy sauce based) broth and level of spiciness to choose from.

Any good ramen shops will have their own ramen making machine in house.

Some iced Japanese tea to cool ourselves down first.

Kurofune (800yen)
I like it a little richer when it comes to my ramen soup so I went with this black soy sauce ramen. Not surprisingly, the broth was a bit more flavorful and had more volume (and thicker) which meshed well with the eggy noodle. The barbecued pork was pretty thin sliced but that didn't take away the smokey flavors. Very nice.

Captain Gold (800yen)
Mom wanted something less flavorful so I told her to get this one. Turns out I was right. The light soy sauce was a lot lighter with a little less volume. This came with virtually the same noodles and barbecued pork.

Mom still complained about it being a little salty but I thought she really enjoyed her bowl of ramen like we all did.

Some pan-fried gyoza (Japanese dumplings) that we ordered on top of our ramens. I like the pork ones a lot more than the vegetarian ones, being a meat lover and all.

Sekaiichi Ramen closes every Sunday, Monday and Thursday so adjust your itinerary accordingly.

I thought 800yen won't buy me anything good these days (especially inside a classy business building like this) but they managed to prove me wrong.
