But as expected, the lineup was fairly long with a strong presence from tourists waiting to get in. After weighing our options, I decided to take the high road and visit Tsujiri Kyotomise (辻利 京都店), another branch of the famed brand renowned for its green tea and matcha desserts.
This shop is just 50 metres from their flagship store. It doesn't have the traditional Japanese tea room setting but it offers pretty much the same desserts including their popular soft serve and matcha latte. There's also a collection of western style (kind of like tiramisu and cream cheese) flavored with their special green tea.

We have a highly anticipated three-Michelin-starred meal waiting ahead so just two small desserts for the time being.
The matcha mochi was really delicate.
The cream cheese with matcha wasn't bad too. It tasted a bit like a tiramisu.
Tsujiri is a must-try authentic matcha experience in Kyoto that simply shouldn't be missed so it was nice to finally check it off our list on our second day in the city.
