Located just off Nishiki Market (錦市場), Patisserie Au Grenier d'Or is a French bakery and cake shop all under one single roof.
A very small entrance and not very eye catching.
But once we finish walking down this narrow corridor, it's a totally different world out there.
It really looks like the living room of a vintage house in the Southern part of France.
Patisserie Au Grenier d'Or offers a nice mix of traditional French pastries (eclairs, mille feuille, creme brulee etc.) and Japanese influenced desserts (fluffy Japanese cheesecake and strawberry shortcake).
Of course, I was more interested in the French stuff.
Tarte aux Kinomi - A crispy tart with all kinds of nuts. It tasted a little like an American pecan pie.
Blueberry cheesecake - I was wondering how this thing worked.
Turned out under the white chocolate "cover", there's cream cheese with raspberry ganache filling. That was a bit of a letdown.
A pretty decent French patisserie but I've found at least three better places on this trip.
