Y+ igrekplus (Osaka, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

Grand chef Hiroshi Yamaguchi is an iconic figure in Kobe and Osaka for his work as the head chef and general manager of luxurious Kobe Kitano Hotel. He's also the man behind the igrek Group which owns the igrek café, Y+ igrekplus and a few other dining concepts in the region.

I had the pleasure of visiting one of the Y+ igrekplus in Osaka. This one is a small counter at the Daimaru Umeda that offers a small selection of French bread and pastries which the brand is best known for.

 

Out of the 10 pastries, I went for the marron cake (¥453) and that turned out to be a very good choice for me.



A very delicate dome of marron cream and chocolate sponge cake was topped by a sweet caramel glazing on the outside. I love the crunchy sable cake on the bottom to create the extra bite.
