Gontran Cherrier Shinjuku (Tokyo, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

Believe it or not, it's not that easy to find a French bakery shop in the popular Shinjuku area. I wasn't able to find a Maison Kayser here and that leaves Ladurée as my only option. But that was until I ran into Gontran Cherrier Tokyo near the Southern terrace of Shinjuku Station (near Takashimaya).

Gontran Cherrier is one of the youngest and coolest baker in Paris. Although the artisan boulanger has only landed in Tokyo for a short period of time, his French bread and pastries have already taken Tokyo by storm.

The 2-story boulangerie has a bakery shop on the ground floor (overlooking Shinjuku station as shown in the photo) and a small cafe on the first floor.

I was slightly disappointed to find that they have only got a small selection of pastries available at the pâtisserie corner.

I ended up taking the yuzu cream mousse tart which was quite a treat. The silky smooth texture was so tempting although they could do without the lemon compote in the middle (Too much acidity there).

An absolutely gorgeous day out there. Time to head out and get more shopping done!
