Soup Stock Tokyo (Tokyo, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

Soup Stock Tokyo is a popular chain specializing in soups made with fresh local produce. They have outlets all around Japan and I always try to visit at least once whenever I am here.

We were doing our shopping at the Yaesu underground shopping mall (www.yaechika.com) this afternoon and suddenly ran into one of their outlets. What a pleasant surprise!

I am not particularly adventurous when it comes to soups so very often I find myself having the same lobster bisque over and over again.

Didn't know they are now offering dessert soups too! Sweet potato soup with cane sugar (¥500). That looks promising.

Black sesame and rice dumpling (¥500). That looks yummy too!

Rum raisin and pumpkin syrup (¥500), didn't like this one. Not a fan of rum raisin.

We ended up having a bowl of Van Gogh onion soup and a black sesame soup with rice dumpling.

The black sesame soup turned out to be a red bean soup with black sesame and rice dumpling. It tasted a little like porridge - very thick with strong red bean flavor.
