Ichiran Ramen Harajuku 一蘭 原宿店 (Tokyo, JAPAN) ★★★★☆

Every valuable second counts when you're on your annual shopping trip to Tokyo. If you have just enough time for one ramen, I strongly suggest you to hover over to Harajuku and pay Ichiran a visit.

Perched on the second floor of the Sanpo Sogo Building in Harajuku, Ichiran is a must-do pilgrimage for any foodie especially if you happen to be a ramen lover.

To get things started, we first purchased our tickets from the two vending machines outside the noodle bar. It's good to know that there's not much to choose from the menu (since almost everything was in Japanese).

Next, we headed into the restaurant with our tickets and were escorted into a small waiting area where we filled out this form to indicate our preference on the flavor and richness of the broth, type of sauce etc etc.

Finally, the wait was over as our server showed us the way to our booths. That's where we handed our forms to the chefs on the other side of the booth where they started preparing our noodles based on our individual preferences.

The pork-based broth here came from a very special recipe and was known for its rich and creamy texture. Their home-made noodles using a unique blend of flour were also something to die for. My only complaint was the sliced pork which I thought was not in the same league as the broth and noodle.
