Blivin Living Bakery 植物系烘焙咖啡廳 (Taipei, TAIWAN) ★★★☆☆

Blivin Living Bakery (植物系烘焙咖啡廳) is an artisan bakery focused on using high-quality vegan ingredients in their products. I stumbled upon it during my last trip to Taipei but never had the time to come in for a look.

This time around, there was something different in the storyline as I noticed while walking past the bakery café.

Originated from Japan, Nama donuts (生ドーナツ) have become a hot commodity all over the world, so it’s no surprise that Blivin Living Bakery has recently joined the game with its own version of vegan nama donuts.

They currently offer only two versions: strawberry and pistachio, and I wasted no time taking the pistachio one back to my hotel.

On a different day, I probably wouldn’t mind grabbing a seat at their café to indulge in my pistachio nama donut, I was a little pressed for time.

Pistachio nama donut (NT$65) – I ended up saving this for breakfast the next morning!

Like the Japanese version of nama donuts, the dough was infused with pumpkin, offering a subtle sweetness. They also utilized only soy milk and oatmeal milk as dairy-free, vegan options.

I thought this wasn’t bad. Like most vegan desserts, the texture and flavor were unlikely to match the non-vegan version. Personally, I felt the dough wasn’t airy and fluffy enough; it tasted a little more like bread than a donut to me, but that's just my personal take.
