GeGehome Pigeon Specialist Lingnan Station 羽鴿集 乳鴿專門店 岭南站店 (Foshan, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

GeGehome Pigeon Specialist (羽鴿集 乳鴿專門店) is a roasted pigeon specialist, in the mold of the popular Dagefan (大鴿飯), offering a range of pigeon dishes at reasonable prices.

Due to the size of the restaurant, there was only one table that could accommodate the eight of us together. To ensure we had this table at the desired time, Jelloman had already called to make the reservation last week.

Sweet and sour pork on ice (冰鎮咕嚕肉) (¥53) — This wasn’t bad, but after tasting the one at Tao Tao Ju, we were obviously spoiled by now. The missing link here was its temperature; while the exterior was nice and chilled, the center of the pork fillet wasn’t warm enough to create the stark contrast we expected.

Roasted pigeon (玻璃脆皮乳鴿) (¥49) — I was curious to see how this compared to the signature roasted pigeon at Dagefan. While it wasn’t as juicy and meaty, the flesh was equally tender and apparently less seasoned.

Baked pigeon rice (招牌鴿飯) (¥45) — One order serves around 3 to 4 people, which isn’t bad. I thought the rice was pretty fragrant, but a little oily. 

There could be a bit more pigeon meat and gizzard instead of bones.

Crispy tofu (一口酥豆腐) (¥29) — Pretty crispy and well-seasoned.

Loofah with handcrafted fish puffs (手工魚腐浸勝瓜) (¥43) — Everyone was fighting over the fish puffs, so I guess they must be fairly tasty.

Mini baked pineapple buns with pigeon meat (迷你酥皮乳鴿菠蘿包) (¥36) — They claimed this was their original creation, so of course, we had to try it. I thought it wasn’t bad, but I didn’t like the bits of pineapple in the filling which made the barbecued pork and sauce a tad sour.

Stir-fries choy sum with preserved meats (臘味炒菜心) (¥43) — Always got room for more greens to balance off the meat.

A visit here was apparently not complete without trying their lemon tea served with pigeon shaped ice!

This was a decent meal without breaking the bank. It should conclude our Foshan trip. Until next time!
