Most of us passed out late last night after our hotpot gathering at MixC that finished almost around midnight. So, it took us a while to get back to the swing of things this morning. Around 2:30pm, we finally got most of our sensations including hunger which had been missing so far.
At Happy Harbour (歡樂海灣店), there were easily more than a dozen of cafes and restaurants to choose from. With the kids indicating that they wanted dim sum, we wounded up choosing Hong Kong Taste (點心俠) quietly situated on the lower level.
A secret recipe of some sort? 😮😏
Dim sum platter (大飽口福拼盤) – We wanted to deliver the hungry kids a knockout punch early so we decided to start off with a bang. This platter came with all sorts of luxury dim sum including lobster dumplings with crab roes (蟹籽龍蝦餃) and siu mai with abalone
(鮑魚雞粒燒賣) but surprisingly, it was the baked custard buns (爆漿流沙包) that ended up drawing a crowd.
Glutinous rice dumplings with green tea (綠茶梨子咸水角) 🍐 – The cute little pear-shaped glutinous rice dumpling came with a very nice and crispy crust and hidden in the middle was minced pork drizzling with a pretty intense green tea sauce. I didn’t think green tea would work with glutinous rice dumplings but they have proven me wrong. I like the hint of wasabi too, adding some lovely extra kick to the mix.
Steamed shrimp dumplings with asparagus (蘆筍鮮蝦餃) – Not bad.
Red rice flour rolls with crispy prawns (香脆明蝦紅米腸) – Very very crunchy.
Baked barbecued pork buns (叉燒包) – This was surprisingly good. The bun was crispy on the outside but soft and pillowy inside, with the sauce oozing out beautifully, upon my first bite.
Steamed glutinous rice with chicken (荷葉糯米雞) – Something heavier to fill our tummies.
