Plat du Jour Pacific Place (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

I'm in Admiralty today to pick up some medication from my specialist. The original plan was to visit Chef Uwe at Petrus right after I drop by the clinic but since I was still feeling the effects from my European trip (having too much to eat), I decided to have a much simpler meal at Plat du Jour instead. Everyone I talked to fears of a potential outbreak in Hong Kong but surprisingly, most restaurants at Pacific Place were very busy, including Plat du Jour.

Lobster bisque - One of the restaurant's most sought after dish.

This came with a few drops of cognac to spice things up. Very rich and silky.

Seafood parmentier - My main dish was seafood parmentier. Despite being a huge fan of traditional French cuisine for decades, I have only had a few of these in my life. My most memorable one was at two Michelin starred Dominique Bouchet in Tokyo a couple years ago.

This turned out to be a very filling dish. Underneath the mashed potato were squid, mussels, clams and sea bream fillets while they threw in a couple of prawns on top for good measures. Definitely not as creative as the one we had at Dominique Bouchet but it was a surprisingly hearty dish that has kept my stomach very happy all afternoon.

After the meal, I spent some time walking around Pacific Place. I can't recall a time when this popular shopping mall has so little customers strolling around. Let's hope things won't get any worse in the upcoming few weeks.
