As soon as I finished my ice-cream at Handel's Vagen, I walked over to Croquantchou Zaku Zaku to check on Jelloman but she was still way at the back of the queue. And she's been there for 15 to 20 minutes already.
I think a lot of us from Hong Kong are very good with lining up for things. As a matter of fact, we were trained up to think that there must be something good whenever there's a long lineup and in order not to miss out on something good, we should follow the end of the line too.
This was another classic example. Jelloman joined the end of the line once she saw the huge lineup.....
Like the soft serve we had at Milk Craft Cream yesterday morning, Croquantchou Zaku Zaku's products were all made with the finest ingredients from Hokkaido. While they pride themselves as an ice-cream shop, their bread and butter, or heart and soul, whatever you call it, has always been their croquants.
These churros-like croquants are made with almonds, and then coated with sugar and egg whites supposedly resulting in this nice crunchy texture.
After a half-an-hour wait, Jelloman finally got her croquants. These came with two different flavors, plain custard cream and a mango flavored one. Personally, I didn't like it at all. It's way too crunchy on the outside so it's a little difficult to fully enjoy the custard cream filling in the middle. Would much prefer the choux pastry from places like Beard Papa.
