We made a slow two-minute walk to Elephant Grounds Mid-Levels for our second afternoon tea of the day right after finishing our first at Meltlyplace. I knew coming in that Thai milk tea would be in play (because of their delicious homemade Thai milk tea ice-cream), just didn't know the extent of it.
This is so vintage Elephant Grounds with lots of wood that gives an immediate sense of warmth and homeliness. It also turns out to be a very nice place to rest my sore feet after two hours of non-stop walking in the zoo. If you haven't been to this branch of Elephant Grounds before, come and check out their cozy mezzanine floor. There's a certain special leather couch on that floor and rumors had it that it could make anyone sleepy and fall absolutely unconscious. So, for those who're having a tough time falling asleep, perhaps a trip here is what you need.
A trip to Elephant Grounds is of course not complete without a sip of coffee but to my biggest surprise, no one wanted coffee this afternoon (I swear we didn't collude)! Thankfully, this branch of Elephant Grounds offers something that no other branches have on their menu - funky milkshakes and smoothies. For the complete list, please refer to the menu below.
I've had their Thai milk tea ice-cream a number of times already. It's a seriously good thing to have in the dog days of summer. Very milky and rich Thai milk tea flavors. And a surprisingly good thirst quencher.
Iced Thai milk tea - Not bad, but a little too much ice.
Thai milk tea milkshake - It's the natural Thai milk tea hat trick! This tasted a little weird though. Kind of Thai milk tea flavored milk.
