Surprisingly enough I ran into a relatively new patisserie on a pedestrian street (Dock Street) called Seasons Patisserie. It must be a new kid on the block.
But as it turns out, Seasons has been around for over a decade already. It started offering cakes and pastries as an online service back in 2004 and slowly gathered momentum (and a good customer base). In 2007, they opened their first boutique in Kowloon City and their Hung Hom branch is already their third outpost.
I am always excited about visiting a local patisserie. I wish there are more of them in Hong Kong.
Picking the marron pear mousse cake was a no-brainer. Layers of pear mousse and sponge cake formed the top half of this delicious piece of cake while a silky smooth marron mousse rounded out the bottom half. The result was a remarkably light and refreshing pastry that was absolutely soothing on the palates.
They had their papaya mousse cake dressed like a tangerine which was really cute. Fine Foods used to have something like this for the Chinese New Year but it was no comparison to this one.
Less successful was their lemon mousse tart.
Seasons Patisserie was a real pleasant surprise as their quality was right up there with some of the best cake shops in town. And if you happen to be a mousse cake lover, you will definitely fall in love of some of these creations.
