Following three amazing days in Dubrovnik, it was finally time to say goodbye to the "Pearl of the Adriatic" and hello to Berlin. Jelloman and I have been to a few cities in the old West Germany but this time around, we'll be getting our feet wet in the old East Germany. And what a way to get things started by paying a visit to Berlin, the de facto capital city of the German Democratic Republic.
I haven't had much to eat all day. Hopefully this small hot dog on the plane could get me through the afternoon (it was about 1:30pm local time).
By 5:30pm, we finally arrived in Berlin. I quickly got our rental car ready for our first destination.
After dropping our luggage off at the hotel, we began exploring the city by foot. As we quickly learned, Berlin is not exactly a walking city.
This one is totally on me. I mistakenly pinned the wrong address on my Google Map and as a result, we spent almost an hour walking in the wrong side of the city, looking for my late lunch venue. As it turned out, our late lunch would turn into an early supper (it was almost 8pm).
We were totally lost and accidentally stumbled upon Hackescher Markt, a very busy square located in the heart of the historic Mitte district of Berlin right next to the train station. Since it's been almost 7 hours since we last had a bite, we decided to sit down at the patio of Restauration 1840 for a quick snack.
This German classic of pork and chicken sausage with hamburger steak never tasted so good! They didn't have English menu here so it was a random choice but we were glad it was both tasty and big enough for the two of us.

We would love to stay and chill out for a while but we have another German meal in 2 hours (Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt). This is going to be at least a 30-minute walk back to Gendarmenmarkt.
