Kampa Park (Prague, CZECH) ★★★★☆

After a disappointing Bohemian dinner the night before, we turned our attention to an early lunch the next morning hoping for a better fate. But the mixed reviews left us feeling a bit skeptic about this lunch at Kampa Park.

While early reports indicated that Kampa Park was a one-time hotspot for celebrities from around the world, other sources suggested that it has fallen out of grace in recent years and was often labelled as an overpriced tourist trap.

However one thing remained certain, Kampa Park does boast one of the most incredible view of the Charles Bridge and River Vltava in all of Prague providing the perfect venue for a relaxing lunch or dinner for any tourist in the city.

Before we touched on the culinary aspect, let's talk about service first. One word - brilliant.

We were firstly handed a perfect outdoor seating on the terrace as per requested in our reservation. Then our server attentively went in great details explaining the menu and lastly, when we were under constant attack by a giant bee, he came to our rescue by killing the bee with his bare hands. Service doesn't come better than this, does it!?

Now back to our lunch.....

It was a cool afternoon in Prague so I decided to order something warm for my stomach starting with a crab velouté with lump fish roe, creme fraiche and crab meat. The soup was delicious.....

But the best part of all was a complimentary box of caviar to go with my velouté (7/10)!

We also ordered a torchon of duck foie gras with truffles, strawberries, mango-endive chutney. It was served with a homemade brioche that was warm and delicate (7/10).

Our first main course was a king crab roll with Lojrom caviar, dill oil cream and lemon aioli that tasted okay but needed more substance to fully impress us (5/10).

More successful was my lobster that was perfectly poached with butter and served with parsley risotto, baby fennel, prosciutto powder and tomato-lobster foam. The contrasting flavors from different ingredients combined to create this well-balanced and exciting dish (7/10).

The stunning view of Charles Bridge and River Vltava did come with a heavy price tag but on this particular afternoon, we thought it was well worth it.
