Up a Notch Homemade Pasta & Pizza (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

2020 is all about exploring new places we have not been before and on this Saturday afternoon, we decided to check out Up a Notch Homemade Pasta & Pizza, a casual Italian restaurant recently opened at D2 Place One.

It was 4pm in the afternoon but surprisingly, the restaurant was still pretty packed. I wonder if others are having a late lunch or early dinner.

We didn’t have much to eat after little nugget’s rugby class in the morning so we decided to order a couple of dishes to share, starting with a small salad. I was pleasantly surprised to see some beetroot on top.

The major attraction here at Up A Notch is of course their handmade pasta so we wasted no time checking out one of their pasta dishes – homemade tagliatelle tossed with mushrooms and creamy truffle sauce.

There’s just something about freshly made pasta that you can tell immediately from the bite. Very delicate to the palate and very nice, eggy flavors. But I thought the seasoning was a little on the light side.

To the contrary, the Captain Korean flatbread with spicy minced pork, kimchi, sesame and seaweed was too heavy-handed with seasoning (thanks to the spicy pork and kimchi).

Staff were all very friendly but it's probably going to be a while before we come here again.
