Jumbo Seafood Gallery (Singapore, SINGAPORE) ★★★☆☆

After a fun-filled afternoon at Garden By the Bay, we went to Jumbo Seafood Gallery at Robertson Quay for the second leg of my birthday celebration.

As expected, the place was swamped with tourists. Thankfully, we did have advance booking and the restaurant surprised us by offering a special VIP room. I take that's part of the birthday package.

We knew exactly what we were going to order here so we quickly fired away.

Sauteed kan lan shoots - Something green to start things off right. I always love the crunch of kan lan shoots. Very nice.

"Mee Goreng" - Fried noodles Malay style and one of Jumbo's best sellers. What I love most about these noodles was the blend of spicy, sweet, sour and savory flavors. And the scrambled eggs, bean sprouts and seafood provided varying textures for a lovely finish.

Chilli crab - That's the reason we were here. Someone can't wait to get himself ready for the chilli crab!

Jumbo's award-winning chilli crab came drenched in their fragrant and flavorful chilli sauce thanks to more than 10 different spices in there. Yeah, it's seriously addictive.

As usual, the crab came with a basket of crispy buns.

I love to drizzle those buns with the tangy chilli sauce!

Live prawns fried with cereal - Another house specialty here.

The tiger prawns were huge and really meaty too! Not bad.

Homemade vegetable bean curd braised with fresh mushrooms - The deep-fried tofu came with a bit of seaweed on top. Pretty decent but I prefer the one from Red House a little bit more.

It was nice to spend my birthday quietly with the ones I love. Food doesn't have to be fancy as long as you have good company. And I certainly have very good company with me tonight.
