Imaizumido (今泉堂) is a charming little Japanese sweets shop nestled in Yufuin, best known for its crispy brioche deep-fried with brown sugar (黑糖炸饅頭) and chocolate dora — a delightful twist on the classic Japanese pancake.
We were simply strolling toward Lake Kinrin (金鱗湖) when little nugget suddenly locked eyes on the shop, his face lighting up with anticipation.
Inside, we were greeted with rows of their signature fried brioche, available in a variety of tempting flavors. The aroma alone was enough to draw us in further.
The shop also offers a lovely selection of traditional Japanese beverages, but it was their soft serve waffle that truly caught little one’s attention.
Their milk soft serve comes with three different toppings: brown sugar syrup, red bean paste, and chestnut purée. Didn't know that little nugget is a fan of chestnut too! 🌰
We found a cozy spot in the dine-in area while this guy patiently waited for his long-anticipated Mont Blanc.
Mont Blanc with soft serve ice cream (990 yen) — Our server carefully piped delicate strands of chestnut vermicelli over a crisp waffle cone filled with creamy soft serve.
The vermicelli was really soft and subtly sweet, pairing beautifully with the rich, milky soft serve. We only wished there were more layers of that luscious chestnut to go around — it disappeared far too quickly!
