Atelier de Godiva at Hakata Hankyu (Fukuoka, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

I flew into Hakata late tonight and didn’t have much time to spare before our tempura dinner. But as someone who loves to make the most of every moment, I wasn’t about to let a spare half hour go to waste. So, I quickly rushed to Hakata Hankyu — just a six-minute walk from where we were staying in search of something palatable.

Fukuoka’s city center is glowing with Christmas lights in anticipation of the festive season. I managed to snap a few photos of the decorations before heading down the escalator to the food hall at the Hakata Hankyu Department Store.

The first time I was at the Atelier de Godiva cake counter, little nugget was only a year and a half old and still taking afternoon naps. 😂😂

Praline pudding chocolate cake (990 yen) – I expected this chocolate cake to be a bit more refined. The layer of praline pudding didn’t offer much contrast to the milk chocolate mousse and the surrounding chocolate sponge. Was it something worthy of my precious stomach space? Well, not quite.
