I didn't realize that my favorite French patisserie in Taipei has gotten a new address during the pandemic until I started working on my itinerary this month.
Quelques Pâtisseries (某某。甜點) has long been my go-to pastry shop in Taipei ever since I paid them my first visit in 2017. This new location is still in Da'an district about 10-minute's walk from their previous spot.
Their new home features a clean and sleek décor reminiscent of their previous address, which has been one of the most popular and successful French dessert shops in the city.
It was always nice to see some familiar faces. Their chocolate tarts (鐵觀音巧克力塔) and Honey Whiskey Cheese Cakes (蜂蜜威士忌起司蛋糕) are some of the best French pastries one could ever find in Taipei. I particularly love the way they infused their chocolate tarts with tieguanyin (鐵觀音) and cheesecakes with whiskey. Adding your own twists to traditional French desserts is never easy but they have made it work brilliantly.
Longan (龍眼) (NT$230) – I decided to try something new today. It's not a new creation, just that I've never gotten the chance to check this one out thanks to the many different choices around here.
I didn't think there're a lot of cake shops which could tackle a sophisticated dessert like this one. A mix of delicate longan mousse, longan syrup and what I thought were small bits of longan compote sitting on top of a base made with runny oolong-infused chocolate and Madong chocolate.
The longan mousse has been infused with Brandy V.S.O.P giving the dessert both tea (from oolong) and alcoholic flavors (fruity flavors). Very very nicely done!
I would have loved to sit down at their café to enjoy this adorable dessert if they have one available but although I needed to walk all the way back to my hotel for the indulgence (about a 15-minute walk), it was well worth the wait.
