Breakfast was supposed to be a very simple combination of soy milk and youtiao (油條) for me this morning but things changed in a hurry after I dropped by Diamond Towers for an early visit.
Located on the second floor of Diamond Towers, Gelovery Gift's impressive tea salon immediately caught my eyes. Its interior reminded me of a traditional Parisian tea room like Angelina Paris. Of course, not quite the same belle epoque-style setting but it was attractive enough for me to consider coming in for breakfast (a sweet one).
They were serving a breakfast tea set that consisted of one of their exquisite pastries and a choice of tea or coffee.
Royal milk tea – Finally, I got my caffeine fix on my second day in Taipei. The silky smooth milk tea was particularly soul-warming on a cold winter morning.
Fiona (NT$290) – For a fan of vanilla and hazelnut praline, it certainly wasn't a tough call for me.
Hidden underneath the creamy vanilla white chocolate shell were vanilla mascarpone mousse, vanilla sponge cake and a centre of runny hazelnut praline ganache. The richness of the hazelnut praline really meshed well with the sweetness from the vanilla. Very nice match.
