Duck and Waffle Local (London, UNITED KINGDOM) ★★★★☆

My little nugget had an amazing time brunching at Duck and Waffle in Central a couple months ago. He absolutely loves his duck and waffle so when I told him his favorite breakfast dish actually originated from London, he couldn't stop asking if we could visit the original place while we're touring in the British capital.

I didn't want to disappoint my little boy so on the second day of our trip, I decided to bring him to Duck and Waffle Local, an outpost of London's coolest and most popular 24-hour restaurant in Central London.

This branch, just a stone's throw from Piccadilly Circus, offers a similar set of menu (all-day, breakfast, weekend brunch) as their flagship restaurant in East London.

Hot Chocolate (£3.50) - It's freezing out there this morning. With the temperature just around 1 degree, everyone including me got something heart-warming to start the morning with.

Duck and Waffle (£16.00) - It didn't take long for little one's face to lighten up when he saw his favorite dish landed in front of him.

No way he was going to share his dish with anyone.

The winning formula of confit duck leg, fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup on their patented buttermilk waffle. The waffle was so fluffy and crisp.

That was so good~

BBQ Chicken Leg (£14.00) - As an adventurous foodie, I decided to check out a number of dishes on top of their signature duck and waffle dish.

The slices of barbecued chicken were served on a bed of heritage tomatoes and Jerba olives, finished off with something like a chimichurri sauce. This wasn't bad but it's a little heavy and a bit too savory (or salty) for a breakfast dish. Now, I'm regretting not having the duck and waffle like my little one did.

Smoked Salmon Royale (£13.00) - A smoked salmon egg benedict with the brioche replaced by Duck and Waffle's signature buttermilk waffles.

The waffles were topped by a thin slice of homemade smoked salmon, poached hens egg, horseradish, chives and finished with an intensely rich hollandaise sauce.

Pretty decent but again, not enough for me not to choose the duck and waffle dish over it.

Little guy is a happy camper this morning. Hopefully he can maintain that mood all the way to the British Museum (which will likely test his patience).
