Nara Thai Cuisine (Bangkok, THAILAND) ★★★☆☆

The first Nara Thai Cuisine restaurant opened back in 2007 and over the next decade, it has become one of the popular modern Thai restaurants in Bangkok. In fact, its popularity has reached a point where expansion to other Asian cities (Taipei, Hong Kong etc.) is imminent.

Nara located at the lower ground floor of Erwan Shopping Mall used to be one of my favorites but I decided to check out one of their other branches (CentralWorld) this afternoon.

Stir-fried noodles with chicken and marinated squid (160 Baht) - It's almost 3PM already so not surprisingly, the first dish to land on our table emptied out in a hurry! I would say, it's fairly tasty but take it with a grain of salt coz I was pretty starving at the moment.

Crab meat omelette (260 Baht) - Slightly less delicious than what we were getting from Mango Tree but more than decent. I needed two slices of this to stop my craving.

Tapioca balls with minced chicken and peanut filling (130 Baht) - This used to be my favorite dish at Nara but not anymore. Judging from the color of the wrapper (used to be more purplish), the recipe has changed a bit over the years.

Grilled pork's neck (230 Baht) - Pretty similar to the one served at Greyhound Cafe a few days ago but this was served with both sticky rice and papaya salad. Not bad.

Roast duck red curry (320 Baht) - One of the best dish from this meal (if not the best). Red curry is known for being a little more spicy than other curries, say green curry. I thought the level of spiciness was right on the money working well with the roasted duck breast and seasonal vegetables. My only complaint was the way they sliced the duck breast - really weird shapes and the pieces were way too small for my liking.

Stir-fried kale with Thai anchovy (215 Baht) - Finally, some veggies to stay healthy.

I can sense that everyone is starting to lose interest in Thai cuisine after our recent run of Thai dishes. From now on, no more local food until we take off for Hong Kong on Monday!
