Like fellow ramen shops Aoi (葵) and Tsurukame (鶴亀) in Tsim Sha Tsui, Daruma Ganso Ramen (達摩元祖麵屋) is a home grown talent originated from Hong Kong. Its flagship store comes from Tai Po and specializes in different types of ramen (miso, soy, black garlic, curry, Hokkaido milk, tonkotsu etc.).
They also offer a nice variety of Japanese skewers as well as other popular izakaya dishes on top of ramen noodles.
The bread and butter here is definitely their exquisite pork bone soup ramen with a perfectly thick and rich soup base while the sakura shrimp miso soup and Hokkaido 3.6 milk soup come in a close second and third.
Sakura shrimp miso soup ramen ($78) - A mix of miso soup and shrimp head soup. The broth certainly wasn't bad. I thought it was more flavorful and overpowering than I've expected. The ramen noodles also had some nice bite to it.
But the barbecued pork was subpar. In fact, it looked more like a piece of boiled pork rather than a slice of char siu. I thought it was supposed to be slightly charred and caramelized on the outside.
