Ramen Dou 麵道 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

Tsuen Wan has been heating a bit as a popular landing spot for restaurant openings these days but it's still far from being a foodie's haven. Take ramen shop as an example, the area really hasn't seen much of a winner in the past number of years, perhaps with the exception of Ramen Typhoon (拉麵台風). But with the latest opening of Ramen Dou (麵道), I was hoping that it would finally stir up the pot and bring in more serious competition.

I had their tonkotsu ramen with chashu (叉燒), seasoned boiled egg and Jew's ear (or wood ear) and it was sooooo good. The broth was wonderfully rich and well balanced (though a bit oily) and the noodles were firm to the bite. I love the smokey flavors from the charred chashu and the egg with runny yolk was perfect. Only if they could do something about that small portion, I would most definitely come back very soon.
